Let's start with a simple listening exercise.
Let's all be as quiet as we can and listen really carefully. Are there any sounds we can hear around us, outside in the playground or in the classroom next door? Let's listen...
Let's open the windows and try to listen again. Can we hear any different sounds?
Let's make a list of all the sounds we can hear in the morning time. Look at the image below and imagine what sounds you can hear.
Print out the sheets below so we can arrange these morning sounds in different ways.
Ask a volunteer to choose a page at random and don't show the class. Get them to make the sound and the class have to guess what it is.
Choose a sequence of pages and place them on the wall for all to see. Make the sounds from left to right together with their voices.
Ask a volunteer to choose a page at random. Ask them to mime the sound. When the class have guessed correctly ask them to perform the mime again and the class can add the sound using their voice.
Let's all think of the first four sounds that we heard this morning. Draw the sounds on a piece of paper or on the worksheet below.
Does anyone want to show the class the sounds they have made? You can make the sounds from left to right.
Can we all make the sounds together?
