Rhythm with Igor [[TOP_RATED]]
Perform
Today, we are going to practise our rhythm by playing with Igor the Octopus! Let's divide the class into red, blue, yellow and green groups.
We need to find instruments or sounds to match the symbols below.
An "s" could be a simple vocal sound or it could be a shaker or tambourine that sounds like an "s". The "t" could be a vocal sound, or it could be any short percussive sound, like tapping the table with a pencil or hitting a hand drum.
The circle and triangle could be any sound you choose! Which instruments or sounds can we use in the classroom today?
Once we have our sounds and instruments, let's play with Igor! Make sure the sound is turned up so we can feel the pulse.
Compose
Now we can create our own composition for the class to play. We can use any of the symbols for any of the colour groups. We can also just use the circles to fill in the boxes and follow our colours.
Now there are two lines which means we can have two sounds at once!
You can also change the symbols while the piece is being performed!
Perform
Now let's create a rhythmic composition along with a song from Irish electronic music producer, Kev Sheridan. There are four layers here so we can divied into four groups of sounds or instruments.
